things i want to remember about finn at 1.5 yrs old

She occasionally hurts me in some minor way - pinching me, scratching me, or the like - while I'm nursing her. I respond by saying "ouch" and asking her not to do whatever it is. And then very shortly thereafter, I say "thank you for not..." to reinforce that she has stopped doing it. She would then respond by saying "thank you" as well. After a few repetitions of this over the course of a week or so, she short-circuited the conversation. She now will scratch me and then say thank you without any input from me. It seems to have evolved to where she says thank you to mean that she is sorry.

She has also started saying "you're welcome". (all of this talking on her part is sign language) She uses "you're welcome" interchangeably with "thank you" (but not "I'm sorry). We showed her the sign as three fingers up (pinkie and thumb together in the palm) and then starting kind of a salute at the forehead and sweeping down to the breastbone. Her version is to raise her eyebrows as high as they will go, opening her eyes wide, putting all of her fingertips from both hands on her forehead and then offering a deep, slow bow all the way down to a squatting position and then back up. It's very regal.

She absolutely loves to read. Oftentimes in the morning we will wake up and she asks to sit together and read. Other times, she will pick several books and find a comfy spot to sit and read and emphatically point to the spot she wants one of us to sit and read with her.

She surprises me regularly with what she picks up on and repeats back to us later with absolute understanding. She worked really hard to climb up on the couch and then reach over the back of it to get a coaster. Once she had it in hand, she dramatically sat back down and proudly exclaimed "Yes!" (it sounded more like "yash") I didn't even realize she had a clear understanding of "yes" and "no", much less alternative uses for the affirmative.

She seems to be so thrilled just to exist in her body and see what she can make it do. She is an amazing climber. She is very strong. She often does what we call her "floor routine" -  She spins, dances, walks on tip-toe. She will roll, toss and turn on the floor, standing or horizontal. She will lie on her belly and arch her back with her arms and legs outstretched as high off the ground as she can manage. She will go from squat to stand to dropping suddenly on her rear-end and then roll back to front to back again and then reach all her limbs up to the ceiling. This goes on for several minutes.
