she has a lot to say...

Finn often likes to theorize the whys and hows of her world:

Crusoe was crying as Remi tried to wipe something out of his nose. F- "Maybe he has a bee in his nose. Maybe he has a dragonfly in his nose."

The outlets in Finn's room hadn't been working. Remi flipped the switch and fixed them and explained to Finn, "Your outlets weren't working and now they are, and we don't know why." Finn suggested, "Maybe an alligator did it. ...two alligators. They hammered it in with their cheeks." She also posited that an alligator broke the guitar stand in the basement. She looked at a nick in the wall and said, "Maybe an alligator lives in there and it came out to break it and then went back in."

And she's pretty clever:

She had her one piece of Halloween candy after lunch and asked for another. R- "No, Finn, you only get one piece." F- " How about if I just lick it and then give it back to you?"

R- "Finn, why is Crusoe crying?" F- "Maybe he wants to take a warm bath or maybe he's sleepy. Those are the only two options I can think of."

R- "Crusoe, can you tell Finn you're sorry for knocking over her tower?" Crusoe stood there silently. F- "Maybe he's shy."

And curious:

F- "What do horses eat?" M- "Hay and apples and clover." F- "what do lizards eat?" M- "bugs." F- "what do mermaids eat?" M- "fish and seaweed, I guess." F- "do WE eat mermaids?" M- "no." F- "do monkeys have nipples?", "do airplanes sleep?"

At the grocery store Finn saw a wooden pallet on the floor. "What's that?" R- "a pallet" F- "who sleeps there?" (she only knows the kind of pallet where kids sleep when there's company.)

And sweet:

At nap time: "No, don't leave. It's comfortable when you stay here."
