last weekend we went to mississippi to visit with remi's parents and help her mom celebrate her birthday, and i would be remiss if i didn't point out the fact that next year she'll be 64.
while we were there, we spent time visiting hap and pat, primarily engaging in lessons as to how to use their new digital camera and make it talk to their computer. we also went out for a fabulous lunch at one of the more ethnically diverse restaurants on the gulf coast, the phoenicia (i think that's how you spell it). as far as i could gather from the menu, they don't serve
anything fried. boy was it tasty! thanks ya'll.

we also spent time with marian riding in her miata. it was a little cramped with three of us, but we had the top down, the weather was amazing, and marian promised not to drive too fast, what with remi on my lap and a seatbelt that wouldn't fit around us both... good times!

this
little creature came by to help marian celebrate her birthday

(by the way, those are palmetto leaves, not blades of grass, to give you an idea of the size. we're talking biblical proportions here.)
after all is said and done, marian would truely prefer to do just this:

happy birthday, marian!
Well written article.
