Manic-depressive weather in March

The following pictures were ALL taken on the same day:  March 21, 2014, within a 30-mile radius.

It was a sunny day in West Jefferson.  Time to get out and run...
 ... and bike.
 together.

 Finn took some photos.
 2nd day of spring

(Notice Finn's backpack I'm wearing.  It comes into play later.)

A perfect day for playing in the creek

Notice the rock that Crusoe has launched 'over' Finn's head.  This picture doesn't show the proper perspective (that they are farther away from each other than they seem).

While we were exploring the creek, we heard squeals from kids at the playground nearby.  Finn commented on them.  I asked, "Which is more fun: playing at the playground or in the creek?"
Finn replied, "The creek!" (Of course, as if it were a silly question.)
R: Why?
F: Because we can throw rocks!

Although we were initially just going to check the mailbox, our outing turned into this adventure, and Finn somehow had the foresight to pack herself a sweater and warm, dry slippers (which Crusoe is wearing). Their creek clothes were muddy and wet.

After school, we picked up Maribeth and went skiing.

Finn has learned how to stop, turn, and slow down on skis. This was our 5th trip to Appalachian Ski Mtn.

Riding the ski lift for the first time
All the natural snow has melted.
At the top of the lift.
Previously, we had only done the green slopes (with the 'magic carpet' conveyor belt) with the kids.  But today the snow was slushy enough to slow us down quite a bit and the kids were ready for some new challenge (as were the grown-ups).
