We saw this Red-bellied Woodpecker searching for some birdseed.
I know, its belly doesn't look red to me, either. We had to look it up, since we hadn't seen one before. We knew it wasn't a Pileated woodpecker, but Maribeth still guessed right that it was a woodpecker. As the website reminds: "just resist the temptation to call them Red-headed Woodpeckers, a somewhat rarer species that's mostly black on the back with big white wing patches."
Crusoe chose his favorite slippers to wear out in the snow.
He loved running up and down the road in them.
